The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art will present selections from its Permanent Collection during the month of October 2008. Begun in the late 1950’s the collection has gradually expanded to nearly one thousand pieces of primarily 20th century and contemporary works of art created in graphics, works on paper, photography, painting and small sculpture. Many works have been donated to the gallery which also actively collects works with generous private support. The gallery was named after Sarah McCorkle Moody who was an avid supporter and friend of artists affiliated with the university within a very young art department. She supported students by purchasing their work and found kinship with their pursuit of artistic endeavors in painting, printmaking and sculpture. The gallery resides in the Department of Art and Art History and is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Farley Moody Galbraith Endowed Exhibition Fund. This year selected works from an exciting new university collection will be featured, adding another dynamic to the contemporary works of art under the care of The University of Alabama.

The Art Student’s League Gallery is presenting an exhibition that features the art work of new studio graduate program students. The gallery is located on the first floor of Woods Hall and is open to the public. The artists featured in this installation include:
